Our First Show of 2017 at the RIO Theatre on East Broadway on March 19, 2017 was a fabulous night of contemporary & swingin’ Blues with local favourite The Steve Kozak Band in honour of their new CD Release, titled “It’s Time”. Our thanks to all who came out to support this one as it was also a fundraiser for the Canadian Pacific Blues Society.
Our Fourth Show of 2016 at Imperial on Main Street on July 14, 2016 was a real Blast with music icons & legends from The Blasters, none other than Dave Alvin & Phil Alvin with the Guilty Ones. Cousin Harley with the amazing Paul Pigat on guitar opened, kicking off a spectacular evening. Over 3 hours of fantastic “Live” music. Our thanks to the excited music lovers who came from far & wide to witness this incredibly talented bunch of professional musicians.
Our Third Show of 2016 at the Fox Cabaret on Main Street on April 15, 2016 had newcomer Ari Lantela open with a fantastic old school acoustic performance, before the main headliner, the “Original Blues Brother” Curtis Salgado delivering some superb heard rending Soul, R&B, & Blues. We thank everyone who came out for this one as it was truly a Great Night.
Our Second Show of 2016 at the RIO Theatre on East Broadway on February 8, 2016 featured Mark Hummel’s 25th Anniversary Harmonica Blowout. Ticket sales initially lagged, but thanks to our great supporters & local musicians rallying Blues Harp fans, this show came off well. The line-up was, in our opinion, stellar with top harmonica players like Mark Hummel, Aki Kumar, Curtis Salgado, and Little Charlie Baty, plus incendiary guitar from two of the Blues genre’s top guitarists Charlie Baty & Anson Funderburgh, and a solid bottom line with R.W. Grigsby on bass, and Wes Starr on drums. AND let’s not forget, a Special Surprise appearance by none other than Colin James. Our sincere thanks to all the Blues Harp Fans who came out to support this one, and helping us to survive in bringing the Blues Back to Vancouver.
Our First Show of 2016 at the Imperial on Main Street on January 17, 2016 that featured Master slide guitarist Sonny Landreth, and Special Guests, the Wailin’ Al Walker Band. We thank all the Slydeco & Blues Fans who came out in support, helping to keep the Blues alive in Vancouver.
