Canadian Pacific Blues Society & One Stop Rock Shop will present “A CELEBRATION OF RORY GALLAGHER” with BAND OF FRIENDS FEATURING DAVY KNOWLES, PLUS RORY’S ORIGINAL RHYTHM SECTION OF GERRY McAVOY & TED McKENNA at the FOX CABARET on FRIDAY DEC 14, 2018.

Formerly with U.K. Blues Rock band “Back Door Slam“, Davy Knowles is a Manx blues guitarist and singer who counts Eric Clapton, Cream, Dire Straits, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, & Robert Johnson, among others as musical influences.  He’s toured with Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Chickenfoot, and the Rhythm Devils.

Those of a certain age will remember the great Irish Blues Rock icon Rory Gallagher.  Born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal in Ireland, Gallagher formed “The Taste”, which was later renamed simply “Taste”, a Blues Rock and R&B power trio.   After the break-up of Taste, Gallagher toured under his own name, hiring former Deep Joy bass player Gerry McAvoy to play on Gallagher’s self-titled debut album, “Rory Gallagher“.  This marked a 20 year musical relationship between Rory & Gerry.  In the 1970’s, Gallagher’s most prolific musical period, he released 10 albums, including two “Live” albums including “Live in Europe” and “Irish Tour ’74“.  Gallagher played and recorded what he said was “in me all the time, and not just something I turn on …“. Though he sold over 30 million albums worldwide, it was his marathon live performances that won him the greatest acclaim.  Ted McKenna joined the band as drummer in 1978.
